Psalm 15 Prayed

Psalm 15 Prayed
Make me more like Jesus

Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live on your holy hill?

   He whose walk is blameless
and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from his heart
and has no slander on his tongue,
who does his neighbour no wrong
and casts no slur on his fellowman,
    who despises a vile man
but honours those who fear the Lord,
    who keeps his oath
            even when it hurts,
who lends his money without usury
and does not accept a bribe
            against the innocent.

    He who does these things
            will never be shaken;
    for the law is holy,
            and the commandment is holy,
            righteous and good.
   The law is spiritual;
            but I am unspiritual,
sold as a slave to sin.
I know that nothing good lives in me,
that is, in my sinful nature.
For I have the desire to do what is good,
but I cannot carry it out.
   For what I do is not the good I want to do;
no, the evil I do not want to do—
            this I keep on doing.
What a wretched person I am!
Who will rescue me from this body of death?
   Thanks be to God—
            through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Hallelujah! For there is now no
            condemnation for me,
for I am in Christ Jesus.
Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life
has set me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law was powerless to do
in that it was weakened by my sinful nature,
you, O God, did by sending your own Son
in the likeness of sinful man
            to be a sin offering.
And so you condemned sin in sinful humanity,
in order that the righteous requirements
of the law might be fully met in me,
so that I might not live according
            to the sinful nature
            but according to the Spirit.
You made Jesus who had no sin to be sin for me,
so that in him I might become
            the righteousness of God.

   Therefore, make me more and more like Jesus;
            whose walk was blameless
and who did what is righteous,
who spoke the truth from his heart
and had no slander on his tongue,
nor did he do his neighbour any wrong.
He cast no slur on his fellowman,
he despised vile men like the Pharisees,
and honoured those who fear the Lord.
   He kept his oath
            even when it hurt.
   He made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
            being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
            he humbled himself
            and became obedient to death—
            even death on a cross!
He lent his money without usury
and did not accept a bribe against the innocent.
Make me like Jesus, O Lord,
and I will never be shaken.

Psalm 15
A psalm of David.

1   LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live on your holy hill?
2   He whose walk is blameless
and who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from his heart
3             and has no slander on his tongue,
who does his neighbour no wrong
and casts no slur on his fellowman,
4    who despises a vile man
but honours those who fear the LORD,
      who keeps his oath
            even when it hurts,
5    who lends his money without usury
and does not accept a bribe
            against the innocent.
      He who does these things
            will never be shaken.

Rom. 7:12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.

Rom. 7:14  We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin… 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.

Rom. 7:24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?  25 Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Rom. 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,  4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

2Cor. 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Phil. 2:7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!
