Psalm 123 Prayed

Psalm 123 Prayed
Praying for grace in the face of persecution

I lift up my eyes to you, Lord Jesus,
to you, who's throne is in heaven.
I  fix my eyes on you, Jesus,
the author and perfecter of my faith.
For the joy set before you
              you endured the cross,
              scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand
              of the throne of God.
Therefore you are able to save me completely
for I come to God through you,
and you always live to intercede for me.

As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their
              master,
as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her
              mistress,
so my eyes look to you, Lord Jesus, my God,
till you show me your mercy.

Have mercy on me, O Jesus, have mercy on me,
for I have endured much contempt.
I have endured much ridicule from the proud,
              much contempt from the arrogant,
for our culture has risen up to condemn you.

   Help me to bless those who persecute me;
              bless and do not curse.
   Help me to rejoice with those who rejoice;
to mourn with those who mourn.
Help me to live in harmony with others.
I do not want to repay anyone evil for evil.
Help me to be careful to do what is right
              in the eyes of everybody.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on me,
help me to live at peace with everyone.

Psalm 123
A song of ascents.

1   I lift up my eyes to you,
to you whose throne is in heaven.
Heb. 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Heb. 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
2   As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their
              master,
as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of
              her mistress,
so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he shows us his mercy.

3   Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on
              us,
for we have endured much contempt.
4   We have endured much ridicule from the
              proud,
              much contempt from the arrogant.

Rom. 12:14   Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. 17   Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.  18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
