Psalm 119 (Aleph) Prayed

Psalm 119 (Aleph) Prayed

Trusting in the ABCs of the Bible

(An acrostic*)

A
  Almighty God,
            Make me blessed as those whose ways are
            blameless,
            who walk according to your Holy Scriptures.
   Bless me so I can keep all you have revealed,
            in the Old and New Testaments,
            and seek you with all my heart.
   I want to do nothing wrong,
            because you love me, I want to please you;
            help me to walk in your ways.
   You have laid down precepts
            that are to be fully obeyed.
   Oh, that my ways were steadfast
            in obeying your decrees!
   Then I would not be put to shame
            when I consider all that the Bible commands.
   I will praise you with an upright heart
            as I learn your righteous laws.
   I want to obey your prefect revelation;
            do not utterly forsake me.

Psalm 119

1   Blessed are they whose ways are blameless,
            who walk according to the law of the
            LORD.
2   Blessed are they who keep his statutes
            and seek him with all their heart.
3   They do nothing wrong;
            they walk in his ways.
4   You have laid down precepts
            that are to be fully obeyed.
5   Oh, that my ways were steadfast
            in obeying your decrees!
6   Then I would not be put to shame
            when I consider all your commands.
7   I will praise you with an upright heart
            as I learn your righteous laws.
8    I will obey your decrees;
             do not utterly forsake me.

(* In the original Hebrew every line of the first stanza begins the letter aleph (א), every line of the second stanza begins with bet (ב), and so forth, through all 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet.)
