Psalm 24 Prayed

Psalm 24 Prayed
Praising the ascended Lord Jesus

   The earth is yours, Lord Jesus, and everything in it,
            the world, and all who live in it;
   for you founded it upon the seas
            and established it upon the waters.
   You are the radiance of God’s glory
            and the exact representation of his being,
            sustaining all things by your powerful word.
   After you had provided purification for sins,
            you sat down at the right hand
            of the Majesty in heaven.

   Who may ascended the hill of the Lord,
            Mount Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem?
            Who may stand in God’s holy place?
   Only you, Lord Jesus,
            for in you is no sin.
   Only you have clean hands and a pure heart,
            you alone did not lift up your soul to an idol
            or swear by what is false.
   Only you could deserve blessing from your Father,
            and vindication from God the Saviour.

   So make us a generation of those who seek you,
            who seek your face, O God of Jacob.
   Since we have been raised with you, O Christ,
            we set our hearts on things above,
            where you are seated at the right hand of God.
   We long to set our minds on things above,
            not on earthly things.
   For we died, and our lives are now
            hidden with you in God.

   Therefore we join with the angels in worship,
            in the praise they gave at your coronation,
   when God raised you from the dead
            and seated you at his right hand
            in the heavenly realms:
   “Lift up your heads, O you gates;
            be lifted up, you ancient doors,
            that the King of glory may come in.”
            all the legions of angels cried out.
   “Who is this King of glory?”
            sang the seraphim.
   “The Lord Jesus, strong and mighty,
            the Lord Jesus Christ, mighty in battle.”
            all the heavenly host cried out.
   “Lift up your heads, O you gates;
            lift them up, you ancient doors,
            that the King of glory may come in.”
            all the saints of God cried out.
   “Who is he, this King of glory?”
            all seraphim cried out.
   “The Lord Jesus Almighty—
            he is the King of glory.”
            so sang every voice in heaven above,
            to your eternal praise.

Psalm 24
Of David. A psalm.

1   The earth is the LORD’S, and everything in it,
            the world, and all who live in it;
2   for he founded it upon the seas
            and established it upon the waters.
Heb. 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

3a   Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Heb. 12:22  But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem,
3b            Who may stand in his holy place?
1Jn. 3:5 … And in him is no sin.
4    He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
            who does not lift up his soul to an idol
            or swear by what is false.
5   He will receive blessing from the LORD
            and vindication from God his Saviour.
6    Such is the generation of those who seek
            him,
            who seek your face, O God of Jacob.

Col. 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Eph. 1:20 ...he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
7   Lift up your heads, O you gates;
            be lifted up, you ancient doors,
            that the King of glory may come in.

8    Who is this King of glory?
            The LORD strong and mighty,
            the LORD mighty in battle.

9    Lift up your heads, O you gates;
            lift them up, you ancient doors,
            that the King of glory may come in.

10    Who is he, this King of glory?
            The LORD Almighty—
            he is the King of glory.                        Selah
