Psalm 14 Prayed

Psalm 14 Prayed
Praising God for the gospel

   O Lord Jesus, were it not for your mercy,
            we would have been fools
            who said in our hearts, “There is no God.”
   For at one time we were foolish,
             disobedient, deceived and enslaved
            by all kinds of passions and pleasures.
   We lived in malice and envy,
            being hated and hating one another.
   And were not for your mercy,
            we would still be corrupt, our deeds vile;
            not one of us would do good.
   You look down from heaven
            on us, the children of humanity
      to see if there are any who understand,
            any who seek God.
   All humanity has turned aside,
            we have together become corrupt;
   there is no one of us who does good,
            not even one.
   As evildoers, we never learn —
            we devour your people as men eat
            bread
              and we would not call on you, O Lord
   Therefore we could never be declared righteous
            in your sight
            by trying to do the good things
            your law demands of us;
   rather, through your word the Bible
            we become conscious of sin.
   Then your Holy Spirit showed us
            there is no difference;
            we have all sinned and fall short of your
            glory, O God.
   And your eyes are too pure to look on evil;
            you cannot tolerate wrong.
  So there we were, overwhelmed with dread,
            for you are only able to be present
            in the company of the righteous.
   We were evildoers, frustrating the plans of the
            poor,
            yet you, O Lord, became our refuge.

   Oh thank you, Lord our Father,
            that salvation for your people has come
            out of the heavenly Zion!
   You have restored the fortunes of  your people,
            let the Church rejoice and your people be glad!
   For now a righteousness from you,
            apart from the law, has been made known,
            to which the Law and Prophets testify.
  This righteousness from you came through faith
             in Jesus Christ to all of us who believe.
  You justified us freely by your grace
            through the redemption that came by
            Christ Jesus.
   You presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,
            through faith in his blood.
   You did this to demonstrate your justice,
            because in your forbearance
   you had left the sins we committed beforehand
            unpunished—
   You did it to demonstrate your justice at the
            present time,
            so as to be just and the one who justifies
            those of us who have faith in Jesus.
   You saved us, not because of righteous things
            we had done,
            but because of your mercy.
   You saved us through the washing of rebirth
            and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
   whom you poured out on us generously through
            Jesus Christ our Saviour,
   so that, having been justified by your grace,
            we might become heirs
            having the hope of eternal life.

   So now, O God our Father,
             through Jesus we will continually offer
            to you a sacrifice of praise—
            the fruits of lips that confess your name.
   For now we can say in our hearts that
            there is one God,
            and one mediator between us and you,
            the man Jesus Christ.

Psalm 14
For the director of music. Of David.

1a   The fool says in his heart,
            “There is no God.”
Titus 3:3  At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.
1b   They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
            there is no one who does good.

2   The LORD looks down from heaven
            on the sons of men
      to see if there are any who understand,
            any who seek God.
3   All have turned aside,
            they have together become corrupt;
   there is no one who does good,
            not even one.
4   Will evildoers never learn —
            those who devour my people as men eat
            bread
            and who do not call on the LORD?
Rom. 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin… 22  …There is no difference,  23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Hab. 1:13   Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong.
5   There they are, overwhelmed with dread,
            for God is present in the company of the
            righteous.
6   You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
            but the LORD is their refuge.

7   Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of
            Zion!
            When the LORD restores the fortunes of
            his people,
            let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Rom. 3:21  But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,  23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—  26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,  6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour,  7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Heb. 13:15  Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.
1Tim. 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
