Psalm 28 Prayed

Psalm 28 Prayed
Praying for those who have done me wrong

   To you I call, O Lord Jesus, my Rock;
            do not turn a deaf ear to me.
   For if you remain silent,
            I will be like those who have gone
            down to the pit.
   Hear my cry for mercy
            as I call to you for help,
   as I lift up my hands
            toward your Most Holy Place.

  I am overcome with fear,
            and doubt grips my soul.
   I despair  that I will be dragged away
            with those who have done wickedness to me,
            with those who do evil,
   who speak cordially with their neighbours
            but harbour malice in their hearts.
  But you call me to love my enemies,
            and pray for those who persecute me.
   If you repay them for their deeds
            and for their evil work;
   If you repay them for what their hands have done
            and bring back upon them what they deserve,
            they will be lost, and the grave
            will devour them.
   Since they show no regard
            for your saving work, O Lord Jesus,
            and what your hands have done,
   you can tear them down
            and never build them up again.
   They show contempt for the riches
            of your kindness, tolerance and patience,
   not realizing that your kindness
            is what leads anyone toward repentance.
   But as you need to be patient with me,
            so also be patient with them.
   For you do not want anyone to perish,
            but everyone to come to repentance.
   Extend your mercy to them,
            as you did to me.
   Demonstrate the power of your grace;
            draw them to you, and change their hearts.
   For I only love you,
            because you first loved me.

   Praise be to you, O Lord, my heavenly Father,
            for you heard my cry for mercy and saved me.
   You are my strength and my shield;
            my heart trusts in you, and I am helped.
   My heart leaps for joy
            and I will give thanks to you in song.
   You are the strength of your people,
            a fortress of salvation
            for the sake of Jesus the Messiah.
   Save your people and bless your inheritance;
            be their shepherd and carry them forever.

   So, dear God of peace,
            who through the blood of the eternal
            covenant
  brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus,
            that great Shepherd of the sheep;
  equip me with everything good
            for doing your will.
   Work in me what is pleasing to you,
            through Jesus Christ,
            whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalm 28
Of David.

1   To you I call, O LORD my Rock;
            do not turn a deaf ear to me.
       For if you remain silent,
            I will be like those who have gone
            down to the pit.
2   Hear my cry for mercy
            as I call to you for help,
     as I lift up my hands
            toward your Most Holy Place.
3   Do not drag me away with the wicked,
            with those who do evil,
      who speak cordially with their neighbours
            but harbour malice in their hearts.
Matt. 5: 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

4    Repay them for their deeds
            and for their evil work;
      repay them for what their hands have done
            and bring back upon them
            what they deserve.
5    Since they show no regard for
            the works of the LORD
            and what his hands have done,
      he will tear them down
            and never build them up again.
Rom. 2:4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?
2Pet. 3:9 …He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
1John 4:19  We love because he first loved us.

6   Praise be to the LORD,
            for he has heard my cry for mercy.
7    The LORD is my strength and my shield;
            my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.

      My heart leaps for joy
            and I will give thanks to him in song.

8   The LORD is the strength of his people,
            a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
9    Save your people and bless your inheritance;
be their shepherd and carry them forever.

Heb. 13:20  May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,  21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
