Psalm 45 Prayed

Psalm 45 Prayed
Adoring King Jesus as his beloved bride

The beauty of King Jesus
   My heart is stirred by a noble theme
            as I recite my verses for King Jesus;
            my tongue is the pen of a skilful writer.

   King Jesus, you are the most excellent of men
            and your lips have been anointed with grace,
            since God the Father has blessed you forever.
    Gird your sword upon your side, O Mighty One;
            with the sword of the Spirit,
            which is the word of God.

   Clothe yourself with splendour and majesty,
            for we long to see you in your glory:
   Dressed in a robe reaching down to you feet
            and with a golden sash around your chest.
   Your head and hair white like wool,
            as white as snow, and your eyes like blazing
            fire.
   Your feet like bronze glowing in a furnace,
            and your voice like the sound of rushing
            waters.
   In your right hand holding seven stars,
            and out of your mouth coming
            the sharp double-edged sword.
   Your face like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

   In your majesty ride forth victoriously,
            as John saw the great vision of you:
   Heaven standing open
            and there before him a white horse,
            whose rider is called Faithful and True.
   Judging with justice and making war,
            in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness.
   Let your right hand display awesome deeds:
            Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of your
            enemies;
   Give them a new heart and put a new spirit in
            them;
   Remove from them their heart of stone
            and give them a heart of flesh.
   Then the nations will fall beneath your feet.

   Your throne, O Jesus our God,
            will last for ever and ever;
            a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre
            of your kingdom.
  Your Father appointed you heir of all things.
            Through you he made the universe.
  You are the radiance of his glory,
            and the exact representation of his being.
   You sustain all things by your powerful word.
   After you had provided purification for sins,
            you sat down at the right hand of the Majesty
            in heaven.

   You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
            therefore God, your Father,
            has set you above your companions
            by anointing you with the oil of joy.
   All your robes are fragrant with myrrh
            and aloes and cassia;
   from heavenly palaces adorned with ivory
            the music of the strings makes you glad.
   All the saints in glory hold their harps
            given them by your Father,
   and they sing the song of Moses
            the servant of God,
            and the song of the Lamb:
   “Great and marvellous are your deeds,
            Lord God Almighty.
   Just and true are your ways,
            King of the ages.
   Who will not fear you, O Lord,
            and bring glory to your name?
            For you alone are holy.
   All nations will come
            and worship before you,
            for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

   The four living creatures with six wings
            and covered with eyes all around,
            even under their wings,
   day and night never stop praising you, saying:
            “Holy, holy, holy
            is the Lord God Almighty,
            who was, and is, and is to come.”

   The twenty-four elders in heaven
            fall down before you;
    the one who sits on the throne,
            and worship you,
    the one who lives for ever and ever.
            They lay their crowns before your
            throne and say:
    “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
            to receive glory and honour and power,
            for you created all things,
            and by your will they were created
            and have their being.”

The beauty of the King’s bride; the Church
   Daughters of kings are among your honoured
            women;
   at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of
            Ophir.
   With them is a great multitude,
            like the roar of rushing waters,
            and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
   “Hallelujah!
            For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
   Let us rejoice and be glad
            and give him glory!
   For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
            and his bride, has made herself ready.
   Fine linen, bright and clean,
            you have given to her to wear.”
   The fine linen of the righteous acts of the saints.

   Listen, O Bride of Christ, consider and give ear:
            Forget your people and your father’s house.
   The king is enthralled by your beauty;
            honour him, for he is your lord.
   The daughters of the nations will come with gifts,
            men of wealth will seek your favour.

   Every member of the Bride of Christ,
            is all glorious within.
            Our gowns are interwoven with gold.
   In embroidered garments
            we are led to King Jesus;
   We delight greatly in you, O Lord,
            our souls rejoice in you, our God.
   For you have clothed us in garments of salvation,
            and arrayed us in robes of righteousness,
   as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
            and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
   For you, O Christ, loved the Church
            and you gave yourself up for us
            to make us holy,
   cleansing us by the washing with water
            through the word,
   and to present us to yourself as a radiant
            Church,
            without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish,
            but holy and blameless.
   Our virgin companions, the angels, follow us
            and together we are brought to you.
   We are led in with joy and gladness;
            we enter the palace of King Jesus.

   May our children take the place of our forefathers.
            Make them people of influence throughout this
            land.
   Help us to perpetuate your memory through all
            generations:
   Bless the work of our missionaries and
            evangelists,
            so that the nations will praise you
            for ever and ever.

Psalm 45
For the director of music. To [the tune of] “Lilies.”
Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding song.

1   My heart is stirred by a noble theme
            as I recite my verses for the king;
            my tongue is the pen of a skilful writer.
2   You are the most excellent of men
            and your lips have been anointed
            with grace,
            since God has blessed you forever.
3a   Gird your sword upon your side,
            O mighty one;
Eph. 6:17 ..the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
3b            clothe yourself with splendour
            and majesty.
Rev. 1:13 and among the lampstands was someone “like a son of man,” dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.  14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.  15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.  16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

4a   In your majesty ride forth victoriously
Rev. 19:11  I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.
4b            in behalf of truth, humility and
            righteousness;
            let your right hand display awesome
            deeds.
5a  Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of
           the king’s enemies;
Ezek. 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
5b            let the nations fall beneath your feet.

6   Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
            a sceptre of justice will be the
           sceptre of your kingdom.
Heb. 1:2 ..whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.  3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

7   You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
            therefore God, your God,
            has set you above your companions
            by anointing you with the oil of joy.
8   All your robes are fragrant with myrrh
            and aloes and cassia;
     from palaces adorned with ivory
            the music of the strings makes you glad.
Rev. 15:2 ..They held harps given them by God
3 and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:
             “Great and marvellous are your deeds,
            Lord God Almighty.
            Just and true are your ways,
            King of the ages.
4             Who will not fear you, O Lord,
            and bring glory to your name?
            For you alone are holy.
            All nations will come
            and worship before you,
            for your righteous acts have been
             revealed.”

Rev. 4:8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
             “Holy, holy, holy
            is the Lord God Almighty,
            who was, and is, and is to come.”

Rev. 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11            “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
            to receive glory and honour and power,
            for you created all things,
            and by your will they were created
            and have their being.”

9   Daughters of kings are among your honoured
            women;
            at your right hand is the royal bride
            in gold of Ophir.
Rev. 19:6  Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
   “Hallelujah!
            For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7  Let us rejoice and be glad
            and give him glory!
            For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
            and his bride has made herself ready.
8            Fine linen, bright and clean,
            was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)
10  Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:
            Forget your people and your father’s
            house.
11  The king is enthralled by your beauty;
            honour him, for he is your lord.
12  The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift,
            men of wealth will seek your favour.
13  All glorious is the princess within
            [her chamber];
            her gown is interwoven with gold.
14a  In embroidered garments she is led to
            the king;
Is. 61:10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Eph. 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,  27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
14b            her virgin companions follow her
            and are brought to you.
15  They are led in with joy and gladness;
            they enter the palace of the king.

16  Your sons will take the place of your fathers;
            you will make them princes throughout the
            land.
17  I will perpetuate your memory through all
            generations;
            therefore the nations will praise
            you for ever and ever.
