Psalm 120 Prayed

Psalm 120 Prayed
Praying for deliverance a culture of lies

I call on you, Lord Jesus, in my distress,
              and you answer me.
Save me, O Jesus, from lying lips
              and from deceitful tongues.

What will God do to you,
and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows,
with burning coals of the broom tree.
For the tongue is a small part of the body,
              but it makes great boasts.
O Lord, consider what a great forest
has been set on fire in my life by a small spark.
This tongue also is a fire,
a world of evil among the parts of the body.
These lies corrupt my whole person,
they have set the whole course of my life on
              fire,
and have been set on fire by hell.
O Jesus, this should not be.

Woe to me that I dwell in among people who reject
              your ways,
that I live among those who are strangers to
              your Word!
   Too long have I lived
              among those who hate peace.
   I am a man of peace;
but when I speak, they are for war.

Help me to be wise and understanding in response,
give me strength to be more like you, Jesus.
   Therefore let me show it by my good life;
by deeds done in the humility that comes from
              wisdom.
For the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of
              all pure;
              then peace-loving, considerate, submissive,
full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and
              sincere.
Let me be a peacemaker who sows in peace,
so I can raise a harvest of righteousness.
May your peace rule in my heart, O Christ
              and may your Father’s peace,
              which transcends all understanding,
guard my heart and mind in you, Christ Jesus.
And may my whole spirit, soul and body
be kept blameless until your coming,
for in my heart I have set apart you as Lord.
Always let me be prepared to give an answer
              to everyone who asks me
to give the reason for the hope that I have.
But help me to do this with gentleness and respect,
              keeping a clear conscience,
so that those who speak maliciously
against my good behaviour in you
may be ashamed of their slander.
May this be your warrior’s sharp arrows,
with burning coals of the broom tree.
And let it be a godly sorrow that brings repentance
that leads to salvation and leaves no regret.

Psalm 120
A song of ascents.

1   I call on the LORD in my distress,
              and he answers me.
2   Save me, O LORD, from lying lips
              and from deceitful tongues.

3   What will he do to you,
and what more besides, O deceitful
              tongue?
4   He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp
              arrows,
with burning coals of the broom tree.
James 3:5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.  6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
James 3:10 …My brothers, this should not be.

5   Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech,
that I live among the tents of Kedar!
6   Too long have I lived
              among those who hate peace.
7   I am a man of peace;
but when I speak, they are for war.

James 3:13   Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom… 17   But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.  18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

Col. 3:15  Let the  peace of Christ rule in your hearts…
Phil. 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
1Th. 5:23  …May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Pet. 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,  16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
Ps. 120: 4   He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree.
2Cor. 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret…
