Psalm 47 Prayed
Extend
your reign, O King Jesus
Clap your hands, all you
nations;
shout
with us to God with cries of joy:
“How awesome is the Lord Most
High,
Jesus
is the great King over all the earth!”
O Lord Jesus, subdue the
nations under the gospel,
put
the peoples under your feet.
You have chosen the nations to
be our inheritance,
the
pride of your people, whom you love.
Jesus our God, you have ascended
into heaven
amid
shouts of joy,
as
Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.
Your Father seated you at his
right hand
in
the heavenly realms,
far
above all rule and authority, power and
dominion,
and
every title that can be given,
not only in the present age
but
also in the one to come.
And he placed all things under your feet
and
appointed you to be head over everything
for
us, the Church,
which is your body,
the
fullness of you, who fills everything
in
every way.
You ascended higher than all
the heavens,
in
order to fill the whole universe.
We sing praises to you, O God,
we
sing your praises;
we sing praises to you King
Jesus,
we
sing your praises.
For you are our God, O Jesus,
you
are the King of all the earth;
let
the nations sing to you a psalm of praise.
You reign over the nations;
you
are seated on your holy throne.
Help us to see you,
who
was made a little lower than the angels,
now crowned with glory and
honour,
because
you suffered death,
so that by the grace of God,
you
might taste death for everyone.
May the presidents of the
nations assemble
as
the people of the God of the Bible,
for
the governments of the earth belong to you.
You are greatly exalted, O
Jesus,
therefore
let the nations of this world
administer
true justice, and show mercy
and
compassion to one another.
May their governments speak the
truth
to
each other,
and
render true and sound judgement
in
their courts.
May they not oppress the alien,
the fatherless,
and
the widow,
and
not shed innocent blood.
May they not follow other gods
to
their own harm.
And so let justice roll on like
a river,
righteousness
like a never-failing stream!
