Psalm 118 Prayed (B)

Psalm 118 (B) Prayed
Praising Jesus for the gospel and praying for the Church

   I give thanks to you, Lord Jesus, for you are good;
            your love endures forever.

   Let all the Church say:
            “Your love endures forever.”
   Let the household of God say:
            “Your love endures forever.”
   Let those who fear the Lord Jesus say:
            “Your love endures forever.”

   In my anguish I cried to you, Lord Jesus,
            and you answered by setting me free.
   Lord Jesus, you are with me; I will not be afraid.
            What can man do to me?
   Lord Jesus, you are with me; you are my helper.
            I will look in triumph on my enemies.

   It is better to take refuge you, Lord Jesus,
            than to trust in man.
   It is better to take refuge you, Lord Jesus,
            than to trust in the government.

   All the nations surrounded me,
            but in the name of the Lord Jesus I cut them
            off.
   They surrounded me on every side,
            but in the name of the Lord Jesus I cut them
            off.
   They swarmed around me like bees,
            but they died out as quickly as burning thorns;
            in the name of the Lord Jesus I cut them off.
   For I will not be conformed to the pattern of this
            world,
            but be transformed by the renewing of my
            mind.
   So, may I never boast
            except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
   through which the world has been crucified to me,
            and I to the world.

   I was pushed back and about to fall,
            but you helped me, Lord Jesus.
   Lord Jesus, you are my strength and my song;
            for you have become my salvation.

   O let me shout the shouts of joy and victory
            that resound in the homes of the righteous:
   “The Lord Jesus’ right hand has done mighty
            things!
            The Lord Jesus’ right hand is lifted high;
            the Lord Jesus’ right hand has done mighty
            things!”

   I will not die but live,
            and will proclaim what the Lord Jesus has
            done.
   For since you died for all, so that might I live,
            I will no longer live for myself, but for you,
            for you died for me and rose again from the
            grave.
   O Lord Jesus, you have chastened me severely,
            but you have not given me over to death.

   Open for me the gates of righteousness;
            I will enter and give thanks to you, Lord Jesus.
   For God the Father made you,
            who had no sin,
            to become sin for me,
   so that in you,
            I might become the righteousness of God.
   This is the gate of the Lord Jesus,
            through which those you have made righteous
            may enter.
   This is the narrow gate
            through which I must enter.
   For wide is the gate and broad is the road
            that leads to destruction,
            and many enter through it.
   But small is the gate and narrow the road
            that leads to life,
            and only a few find it.
   I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
            you have become my salvation.

   Lord Jesus, you are the stone
            which the builders rejected.
            You have become the capstone;
   The Father has done this,
            and it is marvellous in our eyes.
   Therefore I come to you,
            the living Stone rejected by men
            but chosen by God and precious to him.
   In my local church I will come like a living stone,
            ready to be built into a spiritual house
            to be a holy priesthood,
   offering spiritual sacrifices
            acceptable to God through you, Jesus Christ.
   Let us be built on the foundation of the teaching
            of the apostles and prophets in the Bible,
            with yourself as the chief cornerstone.
   In you, may the whole building be joined together
            and rise to become a holy temple in the Lord.
    And in you, may we be built together
            to become a dwelling in which God may live
             by the Holy Spirit.

   This is the day the Lord has made;
            let us rejoice and be glad in it.

   O Lord Jesus, save us;
            O Lord Jesus, grant us success.
   Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
            Jesus.
            From the house of the Lord Jesus we bless you.
   O Lord Jesus, you are God,
            and you have made your light shine upon us.
   As ancient Israel went with boughs in hand,
            and joined in the festal procession to the
            temple,
            up to the horns of the altar,
   so by faith, I join together with all true Christians
             and lay hold of the cross for salvation.

   You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
            you are my God, and I will exalt you.

   I give thanks to you, Lord Jesus, for you are good;
            your love endures forever.

Psalm 118

1   Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
            his love endures forever.

2   Let Israel say:
            “His love endures forever.”
3   Let the house of Aaron say:
            “His love endures forever.”
4   Let those who fear the LORD say:
            “His love endures forever.”

5   In my anguish I cried to the LORD,
            and he answered by setting me free.
6   The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
            What can man do to me?
7   The LORD is with me; he is my helper.
            I will look in triumph on my enemies.

8   It is better to take refuge in the LORD
            than to trust in man.
9   It is better to take refuge in the LORD
            than to trust in princes.

10   All the nations surrounded me,
            but in the name of the LORD I cut them
            off.
11   They surrounded me on every side,
            but in the name of the LORD I cut them
            off.
12   They swarmed around me like bees,
            but they died out as quickly as burning
            thorns;
            in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

Gal. 6:14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

13   I was pushed back and about to fall,
            but the LORD helped me.
14   The LORD is my strength and my song;
            he has become my salvation.

15   Shouts of joy and victory
            resound in the tents of the righteous:

            things!
16             The LORD’S right hand is lifted high;
            the LORD’S right hand has done mighty
            things!”

17  I will not die but live,
            and will proclaim what the LORD has
            done.
2Cor. 5:15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
18   The LORD has chastened me severely,
            but he has not given me over to death.

19   Open for me the gates of righteousness;
            I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.
2Cor. 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
20   This is the gate of the LORD
            through which the righteous may enter.
Matt. 7:13                “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
21   I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
            you have become my salvation.

22   The stone the builders rejected
            has become the capstone;
23   the LORD has done this,
            and it is marvellous in our eyes.
1Pet. 2:4                As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him—5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Eph. 2:20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.  21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.  22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

24   This is the day the LORD has made;
            let us rejoice and be glad in it.

25   O LORD, save us;
            O LORD, grant us success.
26   Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
            LORD.
            From the house of the LORD we bless
            you.
27   The LORD is God,
            and he has made his light shine upon us.
        With boughs in hand, join in the festal
            procession
            up to the horns of the altar.

28   You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
            you are my God, and I will exalt you.

29   Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
            his love endures forever.
