Psalm 86 Prayed

Psalm 86 Prayed
Delighting in the promises of the gospel
in the face of scorn

   Hear, O Lord Jesus, and answer me,
            for I am poor and needy.
   Guard my life, for I am devoted to you.
            You are my God; save your servant
            who trusts in you.
   Have mercy on me, O Lord,
            for I call to you all day long.
   Bring joy to your servant,
            for to you, O Lord,
            I lift up my soul.

   You are forgiving and good, O Lord,
            abounding in love to all who call to you.
   Hear my prayer, O Lord Jesus;
            listen to my cry for mercy.
   In the day of my trouble I will call to you,
            for you will answer me.

   Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord;
            no deeds can compare with yours.
   All the nations you have made
            will come and worship before you, O Lord;
            they will bring glory to your name.
   For your Father exalted you to the highest place
            and gave you the name that is above every
            name,
   that at your name every knee should bow,
            in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
   and every tongue confess that you are Lord,
            to the glory of God the Father,
   for you are great and do marvellous deeds;
            you alone are God the Son.
   Therefore proclaim the eternal gospel to those who
            live on the earth—
            to every nation, tribe, language and people.

   Teach me your way, O Lord Jesus,
            and I will walk in your truth;
   give me an undivided heart,
            that I may fear your name.
   I will praise you, O Lord Jesus my God,
             with all my heart;
            I will glorify your name forever.
   O, how great is your love toward me;
            you have delivered me from the depths of the
            grave,
    having been buried with you in baptism,
            and raised with you through my faith
            in the power of God,
            who raised you from the dead.
   When I was dead in my sins,
            and the uncircumcision of my sinful nature
   God made me alive with you, O Christ,
            he forgave all my sins,
   having cancelled the written code,
            with its regulations,
   that stood against me
            and that stood opposed to me,
   he took it away,
            nailing it to the cross.
   Since I have been raised with you,
            I will set my mind on things above,
            where you are seated at the right hand of God.
   Help me to believe from the depth of my soul
             that I have died,
            and my life is now hidden with you in God.
   And that you are my life, O Christ.
            When you appear
            then I also will appear with you in glory.

   The arrogant may be attacking my faith, O God;
            a band of ruthless people may be seeking to
             destroy my hope,
            people without regard for you.
   But you, O Lord Jesus, are a compassionate and
            gracious God,
            slow to anger, abounding in love and
            faithfulness.
   Turn to me and have mercy on me;
            grant your strength to your servant
            and save the child of your maidservant.
   Give me a sign of your goodness,
            that my spiritual enemies may see it and be put
            to shame,
            for you, O Lord Jesus, have helped me and
            comforted me.

Psalm 86
A prayer of David.

1   Hear, O LORD, and answer me,
            for I am poor and needy.
2   Guard my life, for I am devoted to you.
            You are my God; save your servant
            who trusts in you.
3   Have mercy on me, O Lord,
            for I call to you all day long.
4   Bring joy to your servant,
            for to you, O Lord,
            I lift up my soul.

5   You are forgiving and good, O Lord,
            abounding in love to all who call to you.
6   Hear my prayer, O LORD;
            listen to my cry for mercy.
7   In the day of my trouble I will call to you,
            for you will answer me.
8   Among the gods there is none like you,
            O Lord;
            no deeds can compare with yours.
9   All the nations you have made
            will come and worship before you, O Lord;
            they will bring glory to your name.
Phil. 2:9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
10  For you are great and do marvellous deeds;
            you alone are God.
Rev. 14:6 ..and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people.
11  Teach me your way, O LORD,
            and I will walk in your truth;
      give me an undivided heart,
            that I may fear your name.
12  I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my             heart;
            I will glorify your name forever.
13  For great is your love toward me;
            you have delivered me from the depths of
            the grave.
Col. 2:12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.  13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.
Col. 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God… 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

14  The arrogant are attacking me, O God;
            a band of ruthless men seeks my life—
            men without regard for you.
15  But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and
            gracious God,
            slow to anger, abounding in love and
            faithfulness.
16  Turn to me and have mercy on me;
            grant your strength to your servant
            and save the son of your maidservant.
17  Give me a sign of your goodness,
            that my enemies may see it and be put to
            shame,
            for you, O LORD, have helped me and
            comforted me.
