Psalm 46 Prayed

Psalm 46 Prayed
Praying for wars to cease

   O God, you are our refuge and strength,
            an ever-present help in trouble.
   Therefore we will not fear, though the earth
            give way
            and the mountains fall into the heart of
            the sea,
   though its waters roar and foam
            and the mountains quake with their
            surging.

   Lord Jesus, we believe in you,
            may those streams of living water
            flow from within us:
   The river whose streams make glad
            the city of God,
            the holy place where the Most High dwells.
   The river of the water of life, as clear as crystal,
            flowing from the throne of God
            and of the Lamb
            down the middle of the great street of the city.
   On each side of the river stands the tree of life,
            bearing twelve crops of fruit,
            yielding its fruit every month.
   And the leaves of the tree
            are for the healing of the nations.
   O Jesus, dwell within your Church,
            so we will not fall.
            O God, help us at break of day.

   Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
            you have lifted your voice, the earth melts.
   In this midst of this world’s chaos,
            help us to remember:
   The Lord Almighty is with us;
            the God of Jesus is our fortress.
   We have come to see your works, O Lord,
            the desolations you have brought on
            earth.
   But only you can make wars cease to the ends of
            the earth;
   so break the bomb and shatter the missile,
            and burn the tanks with fire.
   Jesus, come and judge between many peoples
            come and settle disputes for strong nations
            far and wide.
   May they beat their guns into tools,
            and their cannons into farm machinery.
   May nation no longer take up weapons against
            nation,
            nor train for war anymore.

   Yet we still hear of wars and rumours of wars.
            Help us not to be alarmed,
            even if such things must happen.
   Nation rises against nation,
            and kingdom against kingdom.
   There are famines
            and earthquakes in various places.
            All these are the beginning of birth pains.
   Help us to consider these present sufferings
            not worth comparing with the glory
            that will be revealed in us.
   Liberate creation itself from its bondage to decay,
            and bring it into the glorious freedom
            of the children of God.
   For we know that the whole of creation
            has been groaning in the pains of childbirth
            right up to the present time.

   Until then, let this be our confidence,
            speak to us again this word of comfort:
   “Be still, and know that I am God;
            I will be exalted among the nations,
            I will be exalted in the earth.”

   O Lord Almighty, be with us;
            O God of Jesus, you are our fortress.

Psalm 46
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah.
According to alamoth. A song.

1   God is our refuge and strength,
            an ever-present help in trouble.
2   Therefore we will not fear, though the earth
            give way
            and the mountains fall into the heart of
            the sea,
3   though its waters roar and foam
            and the mountains quake with their
            surging                                                Selah
John 7:38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
4   There is a river whose streams make glad
            the city of God,
            the holy place where the Most High
            dwells.
Rev. 22:1  Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
5   God is within her, she will not fall;
            God will help her at break of day.
6   Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
            he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7   The LORD Almighty is with us;
            the God of Jacob is our fortress.               Selah

8   Come and see the works of the LORD,
            the desolations he has brought on
            the earth.
9   He makes wars cease to the ends of
           the earth;
     he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
            he burns the shields with fire.
Mic. 4:3  He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Mat 24:6 You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Rom. 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us... 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

10  “Be still, and know that I am God;
            I will be exalted among the nations,
            I will be exalted in the earth.”

11   The LORD Almighty is with us;
            the God of Jacob is our fortress.            Selah
