Psalm 52 Prayed

Psalm 52 Prayed
Praising Christ for his victory over Satan

   O Lord Jesus, why does Satan boast of evil?
            Why does he boast all day long,
            he who is a disgrace in the eyes of God?
   His tongue plots destruction;
            it is like a sharpened razor,
            he who practices deceit.
   He loves evil rather than good,
            falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
    He loves every harmful word.
            O his deceitful tongue!

   Surely you, O Jesus, have brought him down to
            everlasting ruin:
   You snatched him up and tore him from his
            tent;
            you uprooted him from the land of the
            living.
   When you sent out the seventy two to preach the
            kingdom,
            they returned rejoicing, saying:
            “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your
            name.”
   You replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from
            heaven.”
   Remember, O Lord, the loud voice in heaven:
            “Now have come the salvation
            and the power and the kingdom of our God,
            and the authority of his Christ.
   For the accuser of our brothers,
            who accuses them before our God day and
            night,
            has been hurled down.
   They overcame him
            by the blood of the Lamb
            and by the word of their testimony;
   they did not love their lives so much
            as to shrink from death.
   Therefore rejoice, you heavens
            and you who dwell in them!"

   And I will rejoice, for God has made me alive
            with you, O Christ.
            He has forgiven me all my sins,
   having cancelled the written code,
            with its regulations,
   that was against me
            and that stood opposed to me;
   he took it away,
            nailing it to the cross.
   And having disarmed Satan and his demons,
            you made a public spectacle of them,
            triumphing over them by the cross.
   Those made righteous by faith in you
            will see and fear;
            they will laugh at him, saying,
   “Here now is the one
            who did not make God his stronghold
   but trusted in his great wealth
            and grew strong by destroying others!”

   Since I have been justified through faith,
            I have peace with God through you,
            my Lord Jesus Christ.
   Through you I have gained access by faith
            into this grace in which I now stand.
            And I rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

   So praise be to you, my God and the Father
            of our Lord Jesus Christ!
   In your great mercy you have given me new birth
            into a living hope
   through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
            from the dead,
   and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil
            or fade—
            kept in heaven for me,
   Through faith I am shielded by your power
            until the coming of the salvation
            that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
   In this I greatly rejoice,
            though now for a little while,
            I may have to suffer all kinds of trials.
   Therefore I am like an olive tree
            flourishing in the house of God;
   I trust in your unfailing love
            for ever and ever.
   I will praise you forever for what you have done;
            in your name I will hope,
            for your name is good.
   I will praise you in the presence of your saints,
            both in heaven and on earth,
            for all eternity.

Psalm 52

For the director of music. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite had gone to Saul and told him: “David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.”

1   Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man?
            Why do you boast all day long,
            you who are a disgrace in the eyes of
            God?
2   Your tongue plots destruction;
            it is like a sharpened razor,
            you who practice deceit.
3   You love evil rather than good,
            falsehood rather than speaking the
            truth.                                                 Selah
4   You love every harmful word,
            O you deceitful tongue!

5   Surely God will bring you down to everlasting
            ruin:
            He will snatch you up and tear you from
            your tent;
            he will uproot you from the land of the
            living.                                                Selah
Luke 10:17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Rev. 12:10  Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:  “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. 12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!..

Col. 2:13 …God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,  14 having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.  15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

6   The righteous will see and fear;
            they will laugh at him, saying,
7   “Here now is the man
            who did not make God his stronghold
      but trusted in his great wealth
            and grew strong by destroying others!”

Rom. 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,  2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

1Pet. 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you,  5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.  6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

8   But I am like an olive tree
            flourishing in the house of God;
      I trust in God’s unfailing love
            for ever and ever.
9   I will praise you forever for what you have
            done;
            in your name I will hope, for your name is
            good.
            I will praise you in the presence of your
            saints.
