Psalm 75 Prayed

Psalm 75 Prayed
Trusting Jesus as Judge and Saviour

   We give thanks to you, O Lord Jesus,
            We give thanks, for your Name is near.
            Let everyone tell of your wonderful deeds.
   You say, “I choose the appointed time;
            it is I who judge uprightly.
   When the earth and all its people quake,
            it is I who hold its pillars firm.”

   O Lord Jesus, say to the arrogant ‘Boast no more,’
            and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.
   Do not lift your horns of power against heaven;
            do not speak boastingly with an outstretched
            neck.’
   For they will have to give account to you, O Lord,
            who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
   And when you come, you will bring to light
            what is hidden in darkness
            and will expose the motives of everyone’s
            hearts.’

   No one from the east or the west
            or from the desert can exalt themselves.
   For those who exalt themselves will be
            humbled,
            and those who humble themselves will be
            exalted.
   For we must all appear before your judgment seat,
            O Christ,
   that each one may receive what is due us
            for the things done while in the body,
            whether good or bad.
   It is you, Lord Jesus, who judges:
            You bring one down, you exalt another.
   You say, “Many who are first will be last,
            and the last first.”

   In your hand, O Lord, is a cup
            full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
   you pour it out, and all the wicked of the earth
            drink it down to its very dregs.
   Since, then, we know what it is to fear you,
            help us to try to persuade others.
   For your Father has reconciled us to himself
            through you, O Christ,
   and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
            that he was reconciling the world to himself
            in you,
            not counting our sins against us.
   And he has committed to us the message of
            reconciliation.
   We are therefore your ambassadors, O Christ,
            as though God the Father were making his
             appeal through us.
   May we therefore implore everyone on your
            behalf:
            ‘Be reconciled to God.’

   As for me, I will declare this forever;
            I will sing praise to the God of the Church.
   Lord Jesus, cut off the power of the Wicked One,
            but let the influence of the righteous be lifted up.

Psalm 75
For the director of music. [To the tune of] “Do Not Destroy.” A psalm of Asaph. A song.

1   We give thanks to you, O God,
            we give thanks, for your Name is near;
            men tell of your wonderful deeds.
2   You say, “I choose the appointed time;
            it is I who judge uprightly.
3   When the earth and all its people quake,
            it is I who hold its pillars firm.             Selah

4   To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’
            and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your
            horns.
5   Do not lift your horns against heaven;
            do not speak with outstretched neck.’”
1Pet. 4:5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
1Cor. 4:5 .. wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts…
6  No one from the east or the west
            or from the desert can exalt a man.
Luke 14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
2Cor. 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
7   But it is God who judges:
            He brings one down, he exalts another.
Mark 10:31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

8   In the hand of the LORD is a cup
            full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
   he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
            drink it down to its very dregs.
2Cor. 5:11  Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men… 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:  19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

9   As for me, I will declare this forever;
            I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.
10   I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
            but the horns of the righteous will be lifted
            up.
