Psalm 85 Prayed

Psalm 85 Prayed
Renewing my commitment to the gospel

   You showed favour to your people, O Lord Jesus;
you restored the fortunes of the Church.
You forgave the iniquity of your people
            and covered all their sins.
You Father set aside all his wrath
and turned from his fierce anger.
For on the cross God the Father presented you as a
            sacrifice of atonement,
            through faith in your blood.
He did this to demonstrate his justice,
            because in his forbearance
he had left the sins committed beforehand
            unpunished—
he did it to demonstrate his justice at the
present time, so as to be just
   and the one who justifies
those who have faith in you.

Restore me again, O Jesus me Saviour,
and put away your displeasure toward me.
Will you be angry with me forever?
Will you prolong your anger through all
            generations?
Will you not revive me again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
Show me your unfailing love, O Lord Jesus,
            and grant me your salvation.

I will listen to what you say, my God and Lord,
for you promise peace to me, your saint—
so do not let me return to the folly of
            disbelieving you, O Lord.
Surely your salvation is near those who fear you,
that your glory may dwell in our land.
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the faithful witness,
            the firstborn from the dead,
the ruler of the kings of the earth.
You love me and have freed me from my sins,
            by your blood.
   In you, love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
For what the law was powerless to do
in that it was weakened by my sinful nature,
God did by sending you, his own Son,
in the likeness of a sinful human being
to be a sin offering on my behalf.
And so he condemned sin in sinful humanity,
in order that the righteous requirements of the
            law
might be fully met in me,
so I would not live according to the sinful nature
            but according to the Spirit.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for me,
for I am in you, Christ Jesus,
because through you the law of the Spirit of life
set me free from the law of sin and death.
And since I have been justified through faith,
I have peace with God through you.

So let faithfulness spring forth from the earth,
and righteousness look down from heaven.
Indeed O Lord Jesus, give us what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
Cultivate the hearts of the people of this land
to hear your Word, O Lord,
for they who receive the seed that falls on good
            soil
are those who hear the Word and understand it.
Let our nation produce a crop,
yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what
            was sown.
   Let righteousness go before you,
            the righteousness from God
that comes through faith in you.
Let it prepare the way for your steps,
for all who claim to live in you,
            must walk as you did.

Psalm 85
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

1   You showed favour to your land, O LORD;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2   You forgave the iniquity of your people
and covered all their sins.                        Selah
3   You set aside all your wrath
and turned from your fierce anger.
Rom. 3:25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—  26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

4  Restore us again, O God our Saviour,
and put away your displeasure toward us.
5   Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger through all
            generations?
6   Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7   Show us your unfailing love, O LORD,
            and grant us your salvation.

8   I will listen to what God the LORD will say;
he promises peace to his people, his
            saints—
but let them not return to folly.
9   Surely his salvation is near those who fear
            him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.
Rev. 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,
10  Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Rom. 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,  4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
Rom. 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom. 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
11  Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
            and righteousness looks down from
            heaven.
12  The LORD will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
Matt. 13:23 But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
13a  Righteousness goes before him
Rom. 3:22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe
13b            and prepares the way for his steps.
1John 2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
