Psalm 125 Prayed

Psalm 125 Prayed
Praying for our land

    Lord Jesus, you promised us that
              those who trust in you, are like Mount Zion,
   the heavenly Jerusalem,
              the city of the living God,
              which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
   As the mountains surround earthly Jerusalem,
              so you surround your people
              both now and forevermore.

   But there is no faithfulness, no love,
              no acknowledgment of you in our land, O God.
   There is only cursing, lying and murder,
              stealing and adultery;
   they break all bounds,
              and bloodshed follows bloodshed.
   Because of this the land mourns,
              and all who live in it waste away;
   the beasts of the field and the birds of the air
              and the fish of the sea are dying.
   Though you have shown grace to the wicked,
              they do not learn righteousness;
   even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil
              and regard not your majesty, O Lord.

   Lord Jesus, do not let sceptre of the wicked remain
              over this land, allotted to the righteous,
   for then we will be exposed and sorely tempted
              and we might use our hands to do evil.
   Restore us to yourself, O Lord,
              that we may return,
              renew our days as of old.
   Do good, O Jesus, to those who are good,
              to those who are upright in heart.
   But those who turn to crooked ways
              banish with the evildoers, O Lord.
               Peace be upon your people, the Church.

Psalm 125
A song of ascents.

1a   Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount
              Zion,
Heb. 12:22  …Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God.
1b              which cannot be shaken but endures
              forever.
2   As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
              so the LORD surrounds his people
              both now and forevermore.

Hos. 4:1 …“There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. 2   There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. 3 Because of this the land mourns, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea are dying.
Is. 26:10  Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD.

3   The sceptre of the wicked will not remain
              over the land allotted to the righteous,
     for then the righteous might use
              their hands to do evil.
Lam. 5:21  Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old
4   Do good, O LORD, to those who are good,
              to those who are upright in heart.
5   But those who turn to crooked ways
              the LORD will banish with the evildoers.

              Peace be upon Israel.
