Psalm 144 Prayed

Psalm 144 Prayed
Praying for enemies to the gospel

   Praise be to you, Jesus, my Rock,
              you train my hands for war,
              my fingers for battle.
   Help me to endure hardship
                like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
   I want to please you,
                      my commanding officer.
   You are my loving God and my fortress,
              my stronghold and my deliverer,
   my shield, in whom I take refuge,
              you subdue peoples under me.
   You ride out to battle on a white horse!
              You hold a bow,
   and you have been given a crown,
              and you ride out as a conqueror bent on
              conquest.
  So help me follow you in purity, understanding,
              in patience and kindness;
   in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
              in truthful speech and in the power of God;
   with weapons of righteousness
              in the right hand and in the left.

   O Jesus, who are we that you should care for us,
              mere mortals that you think of us?
   We are like a breath;
              our days are like a fleeting shadow.
   But you have demonstrated your own love for us in
              this:
              while we were still sinners, you died for us.

   Part your heavens, O Jesus, and come down;
              touch the mountains, so that they smoke.
   Send forth lightning and scatter the enemies of the
              gospel;
              shoot your arrows and rout them.
   Let the angels rejoice and cry out:
                “Look, he is coming with the clouds,
              and every eye will see him,
   even those who pierced him;
              and all the peoples of the earth will mourn
              because of him.
              So shall it be! Amen.”

   Reach down your hand from on high;
              deliver me and rescue me
   from the mighty waters,
              from the hands of foreigners to your grace
   whose mouths are full of lies,
              whose right hands are deceitful.
   Have mercy on them for they separate from you, O Christ,
              excluded from citizenship in Israel
    and foreigners to the covenants of the promise,
              without hope and without God in the world.

   Then I will sing a new song to you, O God;
              on the six-stringed guitar I will make music to
              you,
   to the One who gives victory to kings,
              who delivered his servant King David from the
              deadly sword.

   Deliver me and rescue me
              from the hands of foreigners to your mercy
   whose mouths are full of lies,
              whose right hands are deceitful.
   O Christ Jesus, let those who are far away
              be brought near through your blood.
   For you yourself are our peace,
              only you can made the two one
   and only you can destroyed the barrier,
              the dividing wall of hostility.
   Only you can reconcile them to God through the
              cross,
              by which you can put to death their hostility.
   You came and preached peace
              to us who were faraway
   now come to preach peace
              to them and bring them near.
   For it is only through you that
              we both can have access to the Father by
              one Spirit.

   Consequently, let them no longer be foreigners and
              aliens,
              but fellow citizens with God’s people
              and members of God’s household,
   built on the foundation of the whole Bible,
              with you, Christ Jesus, as the chief cornerstone.
   Let the whole building be joined together
              and rise to become a holy temple in the Lord.
   Let us all be built together to become a dwelling
              in which you live by your Holy Spirit.

   Then our sons in their youth
              will be like well-nurtured plants,
   and our daughters will be like pillars
              carved to adorn a palace.
   Our barns will be filled
              with every kind of provision.
   Our sheep will increase by thousands,
              by tens of thousands in our fields;
              our oxen will draw heavy loads.
   There will be no breaching of walls,
              no going into captivity,
              no cry of distress in our streets.
   Blessed are the people of whom this is true;
              blessed are the people whose God is the HolyTrinity.

Psalm 144
Of David.

1   Praise be to the LORD my Rock,
              who trains my hands for war,
              my fingers for battle.
2Tim. 2:3 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.  4 …he wants to please his commanding officer.
2   He is my loving God and my fortress,
              my stronghold and my deliverer,
     my shield, in whom I take refuge,
              who subdues peoples under me.
Rev. 6:2 …Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
2Cor. 6: 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;

3   O LORD, what is man that you care for him,
              the son of man that you think of him?
4   Man is like a breath;
              his days are like a fleeting shadow.
Rom. 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
5   Part your heavens, O LORD, and come down;
              touch the mountains, so that they smoke.
6   Send forth lightning and scatter [the enemies];
              shoot your arrows and rout them.
Rev. 1:7 Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

7   Reach down your hand from on high;
              deliver me and rescue me
     from the mighty waters,
              from the hands of foreigners
8   whose mouths are full of lies,
              whose right hands are deceitful.
Eph. 2:12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

9   I will sing a new song to you, O God;
              on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music
              to you,
10   to the One who gives victory to kings,
              who delivers his servant David from the
              deadly sword.

11   Deliver me and rescue me
              from the hands of foreigners
       whose mouths are full of lies,
              whose right hands are deceitful.
Eph. 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility… 16 … to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.  17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.  18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household,  20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.  21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

12   Then our sons in their youth
              will be like well-nurtured plants,
        and our daughters will be like pillars
              carved to adorn a palace.
13   Our barns will be filled
              with every kind of provision.
        Our sheep will increase by thousands,
              by tens of thousands in our fields;
14               our oxen will draw heavy loads.
       There will be no breaching of walls,
              no going into captivity,
              no cry of distress in our streets.

15   Blessed are the people of whom this is true;
              blessed are the people whose God is the
              LORD.
