Psalm 7 Prayed

Psalm 7 Prayed
Confidence in the victory of the cross

   O Lord Jesus, my God,
            give me the confidence that comes
            from the victory you won on the cross.
   For you took refuge in your Father;
            he saved and delivered you
            from all who pursued you,
   or they would have torn you like a lion
            and ripped you to pieces
            with no one to rescue you.
   Although you committed no sin,
            and no deceit was found in your mouth.
   When they hurled their insults at you,
            you did not retaliate;
            when you suffered, you made no threats.
   Instead, you entrusted yourself
            to him who judges justly.

   But when you were unjustly flogged and crucified,
            only you could pray with complete integrity
            to your Father:
   “O LORD my God, if I have done this
            and there is guilt on my hands—
   if I have done evil to him
            who is at peace with me
   or without cause have robbed my foe—
             then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;
   let him trample my life to the ground
            and make me sleep in the dust.”
   So your Father vindicated you
            when he raised you from the dead,
            freeing you from the agony of death,
   because it was impossible for death
            to keep hold of you,
            so you called out to your him:
   “Arise, O LORD, in your anger;
            rise up against the rage of my spiritual enemies.
            Awake, my God; decree justice.”
   Therefore, having disarmed these powers and
            authorities,
            you made a public spectacle of them
            triumphing over them by the cross.
   You did this so that the assembled peoples of God
            could gather around you.
   so that you could rule over them from on high;
             so that you could judge the peoples.

   And now I do not have a high priest
            who is unable to sympathise with my
            weaknesses,
   but I have one who has been tempted
            in every way,  just as I am—
            yet was without sin.
   Therefore, you alone could pray with integrity:
             “Judge me, O LORD,
            according to my righteousness,
            according to my integrity, O Most High.”

   O Jesus, my righteous God,
            who searches minds and hearts,
   you brought to an end the violence of the Wicked
            One by the cross,
            and you have made those you have declared
            righteous secure.
   Jesus, you are my shield; God Most High,
             who saves the upright in heart.

   O Jesus my God, you are a righteous judge,
             a God who expresses his wrath every day;
   because our struggle is not against
            flesh and blood,
            but against the rulers, against the authorities,
            against the powers of this dark world
            and against the spiritual forces of evil
            in the heavenly realms.
   Therefore, you did not relent.
            You sharpened your sword;
            you bent and strung your bow.
   You prepared deadly weapons;
            you made ready your flaming arrows.
   Satan, who was pregnant with evil
             and conceived trouble,
            gave birth to disillusionment.
   He dug a hole and scooped it out
            he fell into the pit he had made.
   The trouble he caused recoiled on himself;
            his violence came down on his own head.
   For your secret wisdom
            had not yet been revealed,
            a wisdom that had been hidden,
            and that you destined for our glory
            before time began.
   None of the spiritual rulers of this age
            understood it, for if they had,
            they would not have crucified you,
            the Lord of glory.
   Because by your death you destroyed him
            who holds the power of death;
            that is, the devil.

   So I give thanks to you, Father God!
             You give me the victory through my Lord
             Jesus Christ.
   And I will give thanks to you, O Lord Jesus,
            because of your righteousness
            and will sing praise to your name;
             the Lord Jesus, Most High.

Psalm 7
A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.

1   O LORD my God, I take refuge in you;
            save and deliver me from all who pursue
            me,
2   or they will tear me like a lion
             and rip me to pieces
            with no one to rescue me.

1Pet. 2:22  “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

3   O LORD my God, if I have done this
            and there is guilt on my hands—
4   if I have done evil to him
         who is at peace with me
            or without cause have robbed my foe—
5   then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;
            let him trample my life to the ground
            and make me sleep in the dust.    Selah

Acts 2:24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

6   Arise, O LORD, in your anger;
            rise up against the rage of my enemies.
            Awake, my God; decree justice.
Col. 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

8a              let the LORD judge the peoples.

Heb. 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.

8b   Judge me, O LORD,
            according to my righteousness,
             according to my integrity, O Most High.

9   O righteous God,
            who searches minds and hearts,
     bring to an end the violence of the wicked
                        and make the righteous secure.

10  My shield is God Most High,
            who saves the upright in heart.

11  God is a righteous judge,
            a God who expresses his wrath every day.
Eph. 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
12  If he does not relent,
            he will sharpen his sword;
            he will bend and string his bow.
13  He has prepared his deadly weapons;
            he makes ready his flaming arrows.
14  He who is pregnant with evil
            and conceives trouble
         gives birth to disillusionment.
15   He who digs a hole and scoops it out
            falls into the pit he has made
16   The trouble he causes recoils on himself;
            his violence comes down on his own head.

1 Cor. 2:7 No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Heb. 2:14  …that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.

1Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
17  I will give thanks to the LORD
        because of his righteousness
            and will sing praise to the name
        of the LORD Most High.
