Psalm 29 Prayed
Trusting
Jesus in the storms of life
O Lord Jesus, I ascribe with
the mighty angels,
I
ascribe to you glory and strength.
I ascribe the glory due to your
name O Lord,
I
worship you in the splendour
of
your holiness.
For when you got into the boat
and
your disciples followed you.
Without warning,
a
furious storm came up on the lake,
so
that the waves swept over the boat.
But you were in the stern,
sleeping
on a cushion.
For the voice of the Lord was
over the waters;
the
God of glory thundered,
the
Lord thundered over the mighty waters.
The voice of the Lord was
powerful;
the
voice of the Lord was majestic.
The voice of the Lord broke the
cedars;
the
Lord broke in pieces the cedars
of
Lebanon.
He made Lebanon skip like a
calf,
Sirion
like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord struck
with
flashes of lightning.
The voice of the Lord shook the
desert;
the
Lord shook the Desert of Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord twisted
the oaks
and
striped the forests bare.
And in his temple all cried,
“Glory!”
But the disciples went and woke you, saying,
“Lord,
save us! We’re going to drown!”
You replied,
“You
of little faith, why are you so afraid?”
You got up and rebuked the wind
and said to the waves,
“Quite! Be Still!”
Then
the wind died down
and it was completely calm.
In fear and amazement they
asked one another,
“Who
is this?
He commands even the
winds and the water,
and they obey him.”
When the storms of life hit me,
O Lord Jesus,
give me
greater faith,
and do
not let me be afraid.
Rebuke the winds and waves.
Say to them; “Quiet! Be still!”
and all will be completely calm.
For you sit enthroned over
the flood;
you
are enthroned as King forever.
You give strength to your
people;
you
bless your people with peace.
the
LORD blesses his people with peace.
