Psalm 146 Prayed

Psalm 146 Prayed
Praising the Lord Jesus Christ

O how I praise you, Lord Jesus.
Praise the Lord, O my soul.

   I will praise you all my life, Lord Jesus;
I will sing praise to you, my God,
              as long as I live.

O Lord, do not let me put all my trust in
              politicians,
in mere mortals, who cannot save.
   When their spirits depart, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Bless me with your help, O God of Jacob,
for my hope is in you, Lord Jesus,
              you are my God.
You are the maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
You are the radiance of God’s glory,
you are the exact representation of his being,
you sustain all things by your powerful word.
You are the Lord, who remains faithful forever.
You uphold the cause of the oppressed
and give food to the hungry.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon you,
because he appointed you to preach good news
              to the poor.
He sent you to proclaim freedom for the prisoner
and recovery of sight for the blind,
              to release the oppressed
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.
So you set prisoners free from sin,
you give sight to the spiritually blind.
You lift up those who are weary and bowed down,
              they come to you
              and you give them rest.
They take your yoke upon them
               and learn from you.
For you are gentle and humble in heart,
and they find rest for their souls.
   For your yoke is easy,
              and your burden is light.

You love those you have made righteous by faith.
You watch over the foreigner and alien,
for you have made us fellow citizens with God’s
              people,
              and members of your household.
O how great is the love the Father has lavished
              on us,
that we should be called children of God!
And that is what we are!
For this his how you sustain the fatherless and the
              widow,
and frustrate the way of the Wicked One.

    You reign forever, Lord Jesus,
for you have gone into heaven
and you are at God’s right hand—
with angels, authorities and powers in
              submission to you.
You are the God of your Church, for all
              generations.

O how I praise you, Lord Jesus.

Psalm 146

1   Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.
2   I will praise the LORD all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I
              live.
3   Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortal men, who cannot save.
4   When their spirit departs, they return to the
              ground;
on that very day their plans come to
              nothing.

5   Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6a   the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
Heb. 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
6b              the LORD, who remains faithful forever.
7   He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
Luke 4:18  “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
The LORD sets prisoners free,
8a               the LORD gives sight to the blind,
the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down,
Matt. 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
8b              the LORD loves the righteous.

9a The LORD watches over the alien
Eph. 2:19                  Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household,
1John 3:1                 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
9b              and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

10a   The LORD reigns forever,
1Pet. 3:22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
10b              your God, O Zion, for all generations.

               Praise the LORD.
