Psalm 11 Prayed

Psalm 11 Prayed
Praying for those who mock our faith

   In you, O Lord Jesus, I take refuge.
            How then can the arrogant say to me:
            “Flee like a bird to your mountain."
   For look, the wicked are like hunters,
            They treat us as prey, they bend their bows;
            they set their arrows against the strings
            to shoot from the shadows
            at the upright in heart.
   I turn on the TV, I read on the internet,
            I open the newspaper,
                  and there they mock you.
   Those all round me, at school, where I work,
            some who say they are my friends,
                  even in my own family,
    they sneer at my faith and despise my trust in you.
            They mock your Word,
            and constantly undermine its authority.
    O Lord! I sometimes despair:
                  “When the foundations are being destroyed,
            what can the righteous do?”

    Yet You, O Lord, are in your holy temple.
            You, Lord Jesus, are on your heavenly throne.

   You observe the children of humanity;
            your eyes examine them.
   You O Lord, examine the righteous,
            but the wickedness of those who love violence
            your soul hates.
   Yet you call on us not be overcome by evil,
            but overcome evil with good.
   So rain down the fiery coals
                  and burning sulphur of shame
            on such wickedness.
   May a scorching wind of embarrassment
                  be their lot.
   Help us to gently instruct those who oppose us,
            in the hope that you, O God,
                  will grant them repentance
            leading them to a knowledge of the truth,
   and that they will come to their senses
            and escape from the trap of the devil,
            who has taken them captive to do his will.
   Make us happy, not because they were made sorry,
            but because their sorrow
                  led them to repentance.
   Let them become sorrowful as only you,
                  O God, can intend,
            and so they will not harmed in any way by us.
   For godly sorrow brings repentance
            that leads to salvation and leaves no regret.

   For you, O Lord, are righteous,
                  You love justice;
 upright people will see your face.

Psalm 11
For the director of music. Of David.

1   In the LORD I take refuge.
            How then can you say to me:
            “Flee like a bird to your mountain.
2    For look, the wicked bend their bows;
            they set their arrows against the strings
            to shoot from the shadows
            at the upright in heart.

3    When the foundations are being destroyed,
            what can the righteous do?”

4   The LORD is in his holy temple;
            the LORD is on his heavenly throne.

      He observes the sons of men;
            his eyes examine them.
5    The LORD examines the righteous,
            but the wicked and those who love
            violence
            his soul hates.
Rom. 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
6    On the wicked he will rain
            fiery coals and burning sulphur;
            a scorching wind will be their lot.

2Tim. 2:25 Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
2Cor. 7:9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us.  10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

7    For the LORD is righteous,
            he loves justice;
                  upright men will see his face.
