Psalm 16 Prayed

Psalm 16 Prayed
Finding Comfort in the Gospel

   Keep me safe, O God,
            for in you I take refuge.
   I said to you, Lord Jesus, “You are my Lord;
            apart from you I have no good thing.”
   As for the saints who are in the Church,
            they are the ones you have made glorious,
            in whom is all your delight.

   The sorrows of those will increase
            who run after other gods:
   The lure of materialism is vanity,
            the promises of advertisers are vapid.
  The self-righteous declare all religions equal,
            yet they utterly reject you, O Lord Jesus.
   I will not seek satisfaction in false promises
            or take up their names on my lips.

   Lord Jesus, you are my portion and my cup,
            so graciously displayed at the Lord's Supper;
            you have made my lot secure.
   The boundary lines have fallen for me
            in pleasant places;
            surely I have a delightful inheritance.

   I will praise you, Lord Jesus, who counsels me;
            even at night my heart instructs me.
   I have set you always before me.
            Because you are at my right hand,
            I will not be shaken.

   Therefore my heart is glad, O Father God,
            and my tongue rejoices.
   My body also will rest secure,
            because you will not abandon me to the grave,
            for you did not let your Holy One see decay.
   For Christ was not abandoned to the grave,
            nor did his body see decay.
   You raised Jesus to life,
            and over five hundred people
            were witnesses of the fact.
   You exalted him to your right hand, O Father God,
            and he received from you
            the promised Holy Spirit.

   You have poured out your love into my heart
            by the Holy Spirit, whom you gave me.
   At just the right time, when I was still powerless,
            Christ died for me.
   You demonstrates your love for me in this:
            While I was still a sinner,
            Christ died for me.
   Since I have now been justified by his blood,
            how much more shall I be saved
            from your wrath through him!

   Because you have made known
            to me this path of life;
   you fill me with joy in your presence,
            with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 16
A miktam of David.

1   Keep me safe, O God,
            for in you I take refuge.
2   I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord;
            apart from you I have no good thing.”
3   As for the saints who are in the land,
            they are the glorious ones
            in whom is all my delight.

4  The sorrows of those will increase
            who run after other gods.
     I will not pour out their libations of blood
            or take up their names on my lips.

5   LORD, you have assigned me
            my portion and my cup;
            you have made my lot secure.
6    The boundary lines have fallen for me
            in pleasant places;
            surely I have a delightful inheritance.

7   will praise the LORD, who counsels me;
            even at night my heart instructs me.
8   I have set the LORD always before me.
            Because he is at my right hand,
            I will not be shaken.

9   Therefore my heart is glad
            and my tongue rejoices;
            my body also will rest secure,
10   because you will not abandon me
            to the grave,
            nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
Acts 2:31 Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay.  32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.
1Cor. 15:6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time…
Acts 2:33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
Rom. 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly... 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
11   You have made known to me the path of life;
            you will fill me with joy in your presence,
            with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
