Psalm
64 Prayed
Praying for deliverance from spiritual enemies
Hear me, O God, as I voice my
complaint;
protect
my life from the threat of the enemy.
Hide me from the conspiracy of
the Wicked One,
from
that noisy crowd of his evildoers.
These spiritual enemies sharpen
their tongues like
swords
and
aim their words like deadly arrows.
They shoot from ambush at the
innocent;
they
shoot at them suddenly, without fear.
They encourage each other in
evil plans,
they
talk about hiding their snares;
they
say, “Who will see them?”
They plot injustice and say,
“We
have devised a perfect plan!”
Surely
the mind and heart of man are cunning.
So help me to come to my senses
and
escape the trap of the devil,
who
seeks to take me captive to do his will.
O Lord Jesus, shoot them with
your arrows;
suddenly
let them be struck down.
Turn their own tongues
against them
and
bring them to ruin;
so
that all who see them
will
shake their heads in scorn.
Make me strong in you, O Lord
and
in your mighty power.
Help me put on the full armour
of God
so
that I can take my stand against the devil’s
schemes.
For
my struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but
against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark
world
and
against the spiritual forces of evil
in
the heavenly realms.
Therefore help me put on the
full armour of God,
so
that when the day of evil comes,
I may be able to stand my
ground,
and
after I have done everything, to stand.
Help me to stand firm,
with
the belt of truth buckled around my waist,
with the breastplate of
righteousness in place,
and
with my feet fitted with the readiness
that
comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, help
me to take up the shield
of
faith,
with
which I can extinguish all the flaming
arrows
of the evil one.
Help me take the helmet of
salvation
and
the sword of the Spirit,
which
is the word of God.
And
may I pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with
all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, I will be
alert,
and
I will always keep praying for the saints:
Let all mankind fear you and
love you;
let
them proclaim the works of God
and
ponder what you have done.
Let those you have declared
righteous rejoice in
you,
O Lord,
and
may they take refuge in you.
Let
all the upright in heart praise your name!
let all the upright in heart praise him!
