Psalm 62 Prayed

Psalm 62 Prayed
Praying for the name of Jesus to be honoured

   My soul finds rest in you alone, O Jesus;
            my salvation comes from you.
   You alone are my rock and my salvation;
            you are my fortress, I will never be shaken.

   Lord Jesus, how long will you let our culture
            assault you, the Son of Man?
   Would you let them throw your name down—
            try to push it over like a leaning wall,
            or a tottering fence?
   They misuse the name of the Lord Jesus, their God.
            They fully intend to topple you
            from your lofty place;
            they take delight in lies.
  With their mouths they bless,
            but in their hearts they curse.

   Find rest, O my soul, in Jesus my God alone;
            my hope comes from you, O Lord.
   You alone are my rock and my salvation;
            you are my fortress, I will not be shaken.
    My salvation and my honour depend on you,
            Lord Jesus;
            you are my mighty rock, my refuge.
    Let me trust in you at all times,
            may I pour out my heart to you,
            for you alone are my refuge.

   These lowborn are but a breath,
            the highborn are but a lie;
   If weighed on a balance, their lies are nothing;
            together they are only a breath.
   Do not let them trust in extortion
            or take pride in their stolen goods;
   though their riches increase,
            do not let them set their hearts on them.
   For you have promised not to hold anyone guiltless
            who misuses your name.

   One thing God the Father has spoken,
            two things have I heard:
   that you, O Christ, are strong,
             and that you, O Lord Jesus, are loving.
   Your name is a strong tower,
            I run to it and I am safe.
   For God has exalted you to the highest place
            and he has given you the name
            that is above every name,
   that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
            in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
   and every tongue confess that you are Lord,
            to the glory of God the Father.
   So who will not fear you, O Lord,
            and bring glory to your name?
            For you alone are holy.
   Now let all nations come and worship before you,
            for your righteous acts have been revealed.
   And surely you will reward each person
            according to what they have done.

Psalm 62
For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.

1   My soul finds rest in God alone;
            my salvation comes from him.
2   He alone is my rock and my salvation;
            he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

3   How long will you assault a man?
            Would all of you throw him down—
            this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
Ex 20:7 “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God...
4   They fully intend to topple him
            from his lofty place;
            they take delight in lies.
      With their mouths they bless,
            but in their hearts they curse.             Selah

5   Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
            my hope comes from him.
6   He alone is my rock and my salvation;
            he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7   My salvation and my honour depend on God;
            he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8   Trust in him at all times, O people;
            pour out your hearts to him,
            for God is our refuge.                        Selah
9    Lowborn men are but a breath,
            the highborn are but a lie;
       if weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
            together they are only a breath.
10   Do not trust in extortion
            or take pride in stolen goods;
        though your riches increase,
            do not set your heart on them.
Ex 20:7 …for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

11   One thing God has spoken,
            two things have I heard:
       that you, O God, are strong,
12a             and that you, O Lord, are loving.
Prov. 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
Phil. 2:9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Rev. 15:4  Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
 12b Surely you will reward each person
            according to what he has done.
