Psalm
133 Prayed
Praying for unity in the church
O Lord God, how good and
pleasant it is
when
Christians live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured
on the head,
running
down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down
upon the collar of his robes.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
were
falling on Mount Zion.
O mighty God, who gives us
endurance and
encouragement,
give
us a spirit of unity among ourselves,
as
we follow Jesus Christ,
so that with one heart and
mouth,
we
may glorify you, God the Father,
and
your Son, Jesus Christ.
Help us keep the unity of the
Spirit, O Lord,
through
the bond of peace.
There is one body and one
Spirit,
just
as you called us to one hope
when
we were called:
One Lord, one faith, one
baptism;
one God and Father of all.
Therefore be over us all
and through all and in all
that we do, say and think.
For you gave some to be apostles
and some to be prophets,
to write the New Testament for us,
and some to be evangelists,
and some to be pastors and teachers,
to prepare us for works of service,
so that the body of Christ may be built up.
On this may we all reach unity in the faith.
Through them, give us the knowledge of your Son, O God
and help us to become mature,
attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Make
our joy complete;
help
us be like-minded, having the same love,
being
one in spirit and purpose.
Do not let us do anything out
of selfish ambition
or
vain conceit,
but
in humility consider others
better
than ourselves.
Let each of us look not only to
our own interests,
but
also to the interests of others.
Therefore help us stop passing
judgement on one
another.
Instead, help us to make up our
minds
not
to put any stumbling block or obstacle
in
one another’s way.
For it is here, in your Church,
that you bestow your blessing;
even
life forevermore.
even
life forevermore.
