Psalm 131 Prayed

Psalm 131 Prayed
Praying for humble, childlike faith

   My heart is not proud, O Lord my Father,
              my eyes are not haughty;

   I do not concern myself with great matters
              or things too wonderful for me.
   But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
              like a weaned child with its mother,
              like a weaned child is my soul within me.

   O Heavenly Father, unite me with Jesus;
               full of joy through the Holy Spirit,
   who said, “I praise you, Father,
              Lord of heaven and earth,
   because you have hidden these things
              from the wise and learned,
   and revealed them to little children.
              Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.”

   For the message of the cross is foolishness to those
              who are perishing,
              but to us who are being saved it is the power of
              God.
   Where is the wise man?
              Where is the scholar?
              Where is the philosopher of this age?
   Have you not made foolish
              the wisdom of the world?
   For since in your wisdom, O God,
              the world through its wisdom
              did not know you,
   you were pleased through the foolishness of what
              was preached
              to save us who believe.

   O my fellow Christians, put your hope in Jesus
              both now and forevermore.

Psalm 131
A song of ascents. Of David.

1   My heart is not proud, O LORD,
              my eyes are not haughty;

     I do not concern myself with great matters
              or things too wonderful for me.
2   But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
              like a weaned child with its mother,
              like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Luke 10:21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

1Cor. 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God…  20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

3   O Israel, put your hope in the LORD
              both now and forevermore.
