Psalm 116 Prayed

Psalm 116 Prayed
Praising God for the gospel

   O Lord Jesus, you loved the Father,
            for he heard your voice;
            he heard your cry for mercy on my behalf.
   Because the Father turned his ear to you,

            you could call on him as long as you lived.

   On the cross, the cords of death entangled you,

            the anguish of the grave came upon you;

   You were overcome by trouble and sorrow,
            because you were delivered over to death for
            my sins
            and you were raised to life for my
            justification.
   When you called on the name of the Lord:

            ‘O Lord, save me!’
   So he raised you from the dead
            and glorified you.

   O Jesus, help me to see you,
            who was made lower than the angels for a
            little while,
   now crowned with glory and honour
            because you suffered death,
   so that by the grace of your Father
            you might taste death for everyone.

   O Lord Jesus, you are gracious and righteous;

            you are my God, full of compassion.
   You protect the simplehearted;

            when I was in great need, you saved me.
   Be at rest once more, O my soul,

            for the Lord has been good to you.
   For you, Lord, have delivered my soul from death,

            my eyes from tears,

            my feet from stumbling,
   that I may walk before you, O Lord

            in the land of the living.
   I believed: therefore I said,

            “I am greatly afflicted”
   in my dismay I said
            “Everyone is a liar.”

   Since I am flesh and blood, O Jesus,
            you too shared in my humanity.
   You were made like me, fully human in every way,
            in order that you might become a merciful
   and faithful high priest in service to God,
            and that you might make atonement for my
            sins.

   How can I repay you, O Lord Jesus
            for all your goodness to me?
   At the Lord's Supper I will lift up the cup of
            salvation

            and call on your name, Lord Jesus.
   I will fulfil my vows to you, O Lord

            in the presence of all your people in my
            church.

   Precious in your sight O Lord Jesus,
            is the death of your saints.
   For when you appear I will receive
            a grown of glory that will never fade away,
   and a rich welcome from you,
            my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ,
            into your eternal kingdom.
   O Lord Jesus, truly I am your servant;
            I am your servant, the child of your
            maidservant;
            you have freed me from my chains.
   So I am no longer a slave, but your child;
            and since I am your child,
            you have made me an heir.

I will sacrifice a thank offering to you
            and call on the name of the Lord Jesus.
   I will fulfil my vows to you, Lord Jesus
            in the presence of all your people,
   in the courts of the house of the Lord Jesus—
            in your midst, O my church.
             Praise the Lord.

1   I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;
            he heard my cry for mercy.
2   Because he turned his ear to me,
            I will call on him as long as I live.

3   The cords of death entangled me,
            the anguish of the grave came upon me;
            I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.

Heb. 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

5   The LORD is gracious and righteous;
            our God is full of compassion.
6   The LORD protects the simplehearted;
            when I was in great need, he saved me.

            my eyes from tears,
            my feet from stumbling,
9   that I may walk before the LORD
            in the land of the living.
10   I believed; therefore I said,
            “I am greatly afflicted.”
11   And in my dismay I said,
            “All men are liars.”
Heb. 2:14   Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity…
Heb. 2:17 For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.
12   How can I repay the LORD
            for all his goodness to me?
13  I will lift up the cup of salvation
            and call on the name of the LORD.
14   I will fulfil my vows to the LORD
            in the presence of all his people.

15   Precious in the sight of the LORD
            is the death of his saints.
1Pet. 5:4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
2Pet. 1:11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

            I am your servant, the son of your
            maidservant;
            you have freed me from my chains.
Gal. 4:7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.
17   I will sacrifice a thank offering to you
            and call on the name of the LORD.
18   I will fulfil my vows to the LORD
            in the presence of all his people,
19   in the courts of the house of the LORD—
            in your midst, O Jerusalem.

            Praise the LORD.
