Psalm 124 Prayed

Psalm 124 Prayed
Praising Jesus  for our salvation

   If you had not been on our side—
              let the Church say to Jesus—
   if you had not been on our side
              when sin attacked us,
   when Satan's anger flared against us,
              sin would have swallowed us alive;
   the flood would have engulfed us,
              the torrent would have swept over us,
   the raging waters
              would have swept us away.

   Praise be to you, Lord Jesus,
              for you have not let us be torn by sin's teeth.
   We have escaped like a bird
              out of the fowler’s snare;
   the snare has been broken,
              and we have escaped.
   We have died to sin;
              how can we live in it any longer?
   All of us who were baptised into you, Christ Jesus,
              were baptised into your death.
   We were buried with you through baptism into
              death,
   in order that,
              just as you were raised from the dead
              through the glory of the Father,
              we too may live a new life.

   Our help is in your name, O Lord Jesus,
              the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 124
A song of ascents. Of David.

1   If the LORD had not been on our side—
              let Israel say—
2   if the LORD had not been on our side
              when men attacked us,
3   when their anger flared against us,
              they would have swallowed us alive;
4   the flood would have engulfed us,
              the torrent would have swept over us,
5   the raging waters
              would have swept us away.

6   Praise be to the LORD,
              who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
7   We have escaped like a bird
              out of the fowler’s snare;
     the snare has been broken,
              and we have escaped.
Rom. 6:2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?  3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

8   Our help is in the name of the LORD,
              the Maker of heaven and earth.
